(Referring to the “theater arts” – live theater)
Here’s a great example of why Liberalism, “Progressivism”, Socialism, and Communism all, always fail. In this case, Liberalism and “Progressivism”. Note the capital letters.
I was on my way home from work yesterday, and listening to “All Things Considered” on NPR. I generally refer to the show as “Some Things Considered”, because like all Leftist Liberal/Progressive tomes, they have a very myopic view of reality that admits the things they want to acknowledge, and denies everything else. Basically, what they accuse the Conservative Right of, and usually rightfully so. Let’s face it, everyone does this, and there is no such thing as an “unbiased person” or “unbiased news source” for the obvious reason. And if anyone claimed to be such, I would immediately distrust them.
Anyway, watch how this plays out as a Problem, and their attempted Solution. The scene is the live play theaters reopening after the (now) end of the pandemic.

So, there’s the problem. Not enough people are willing to buy tickets to sustain the arts. People just aren’t going to the theater, anymore. So, the question is, WHY?

We… stopped rehearsals for a week so the mostly non-white cast could discuss problems with the way the story addressed characters who were undocumented immigrants.

We have to be holding space for conversation in our buildings and – for contemplation and reflection.
THE OBVIOUS CONCLUSION
Anyone with an ounce of brain cells, and a mere half an ounce of common sense can tell you immediately what is wrong. Mainstreamed sexual perversion in all the various forms of homosexuality (gay, lesbian, bi, trans, whatever…) is the realm of a TINY minority of people. The best estimates are that it accounts for less than 2% of the entire population. And yet, if your news source is CNN, or any of the other mainstream news sources, you’d never know that. They certainly are not going to tell you that. (Likely because, from recent revelations, the mainstream news media itself is full of sexual predators and perverts – witness the latest “sexual grooming of 9 year old girls” by a CNN producer).
99% of the population of this country simply do not care to spend their hard earned cash on a night out of dinner and theater, if the theater is going to ruin the night by wasting everyone’s time and money on stupid political and homosexual propaganda that virtually no one cares about. If I want to see Shakespeare, then I want to see Shakespeare. Not some lurid tool’s version of an “all black” version of anything. I want to see THE THING. Not your weird, perverted interpretation of that thing.
People might answer poll questions that favour your cause, because it doesn’t cost them anything, and they can put cheap pay to your cause without actually risking anything themselves by doing so. They get to “virtue signal” (“look how good and righteous I am…”) without actually having to put anything valuable on the line.
But when MONEY is involved – especially their own money, not someone else’s money that the government seized in the form of taxes – then the story is different. Very different. How different? Well, just like the theater babe at the beginning said. “Not gonna lie. It’s bleak. It’s very bleak.“
So long as people can put someone else’s money at risk by pulling the Donkey Lever, they will pull the Donkey Lever until the Donkey passes out from sheer bliss overload.
But when they have to put their OWN money on the line, things are different. Now, they want to be entertained, and not have their “date night” spoiled by a bunch of political minorities trying to shove their politically perverted values down everyone else’s throat.
Again, this is plainly obvious to anyone who isn’t a leftist Liberal Progressive, because it simply does not cross their mind that anyone thinks differently than they do. To understand them, you have to understand that they really do believe that their sexual perversion really is “accepted” and “celebrated” by the rest of the world.
It is NOT. For a while, it was “tolerated”, because in the beginning that was all the homosexual crowd asked for – to be tolerated.
And they got that.
But like all forms of perversion, tolerance is not the end goal. It is only the beginning.
And here is the pushback from the real world when the real world is asked to voice it’s opinions from it’s wallet. And that answer is, “Shut up and entertain us. That’s what we are paying you to do. Now DO IT.“
Ticket sales are weak? Golly, I wonder why?
